    I’ve been somewhat following the 5:2 diet for about 2 months now and am always looking for new recipes. If you aren’t familiar, the 5:2 diet is where you eat “normally” for 5 days out of the week and then fast the other 2 days. It’s kind of like having your cake and eating it too. The fasting portion is not going without food completely though. Essentially you are limiting your diet to just 500-600 calories depending on gender. You may have heard this called intermittent fasting in other circles.

    The author provides a succinct outline of the diet in the first 3 chapters along with good information on what to expect while following the plan, tips for staying with it, and a listing of low-calorie food options. Chapter 4 gives you an 8 week meal plan for the fasting portion of your diet and then there are a ton of low-cal recipes for everything from breakfast and dinner to soups, stews, salads, and even snacks and desserts. If you’ve considered the 5:2 diet or are looking for more recipes while following the plan, get this great book!
