    In the vein of Morgan Spurlock’s Supersize Me, where Spurlock used himself as a guinea pig to show what eating fast food for a month will do to your body, Andy takes us on a weight loss journey where he tries out 5-day versions of 10 different diets. He was successful in meeting his goal weight loss, but that’s almost beside the point. He is someone who has identified what is probably the KEY component to explain why losing weight, and keeping it off, is so hard… It’s boring, and often requires not only planning what you can and cannot eat, but also the emotional difficulty of denying oneself of one of life’s most enjoyable pleasures. I applaud Andy for having the chutzpah to come out and tell the truth.
    Is this book going to help you lose weight? Possibly, but not by having you follow his plan (he adamantly tells you not to!) BUT it may encourage me to think about different small changes I could make to become healthier. And, his writing style is never bossy, threatening, or condescending (as so many other diet books can be). Honestly, he seems like that great friend you get to catch up with every once in a while… Enjoyable read!

    I really enjoyed Minimize Me. I’m one of those people who always worries if I should be losing weight, and I’ve tried several diets over the years – but nothing like this! When I started reading, I thought that maybe I could copy Mr Leeks and achieve the same results. Then I saw what he went through… Ugh! Juice diet? CABBAGE DIET, are you f’n KIDDING ME??? Wow, he really put himself through the wringer on this one, and I laughed along the whole way. Hugely entertaining as well as informative, it really made me feel like I was there, taking part in this ridiculous challenge. As for whether or not I’m going to try to copy him… NO WAY! I’ll be sticking to my friend eggs and pizza, thank-you very much – with perhaps a slight reduction in serving size. Or maybe switch my snacks for fruit. Or maybe subsist for five days entirely on juice made from raw vegetables… Hahahahahahahaha! NOT.
    Great book, really enjoyable, and might just make you rethink that latest fad…

    Minimize Me is another gem from Andy Leeks. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have all of his others.
    Andy has real talent as a writer and has somehow turned the subject of dieting into an immensely engaging and humorous book.
    I can’t wait to see what he has planned next.
