To further the conversation opened up by Geneen Roth in her book Women, Food and God, Joella shows you how she lost 115 pounds, only to regain 60lbs. because she hadn’t addressed the deeper issues that were causing her issues with weight. Committed to fat loss for life, Joella eventually lost that weight (plus more) but her story seeks to have people understand that when process of losing weight is done from an inside-out approach, versus calories in – calories out approach.

What a great book for all those struggling with their weight and have tried all other avenues. This book is not just for those struggling with their weight but also struggling with self image. The techniques she explains in the book give you insight about the health of your body as well as your mind. This book makes you realize that weight loss is not about food at all. The explanation of the ETF method is very intriguing and I’m looking forward to trying it. What a good read!

What a great book that will make you look at the various causes of your weight loss struggles and teach you how to get off the weight loss roller coaster. Joella’s amazing story is an inspiration to all of us that have struggled with the emotional side of eating and the side effect of gaining weight. This great book teaches you how to break the cycle by using EFT. I have been fortunate to not only read the book but to practice this wonderful technique with Joella. She has been a great partner in my successful weight loss journey and I encourage everyone to start their own personal weight loss journey by reading this inspiring book.

There are many weight loss books out there. What sets this book apart is that it gets into the psychology behind making a major life change, whether that is losing weight or creating any good habit. I loved that Bower discusses the need to change one’s view of oneself before even doing the necessary hard work of losing weight. If you don’t see yourself as a “fit person,” you’ll sabotage yourself back into the accustomed overweight mold – hence yo-yo dieting.

There’s a lot packed into this short book. I recommend it to anyone who wants to make a life change, heavy or not.
