    What price do you put on motivation? I could not attend a gym session, let alone visit a personal trainer, for motivation, for the price of this book.

    Half way through reading this I got up and did a two kilometer power walk, even enjoyed it. It takes a lot to get me to remember to break my sedentary activity day up into regular bouts of exercise and this book did that for me. Before the book was over I had hunted up my personal motivations journal, reset goals and action plans to achieve them. I decided the price of this book was money well spent; a small price to pay to become re-motivated in the ongoing quest to be ones best.

    I gave this book five well deserved stars for the author’s passion in sharing his own weight loss journey and his desire to strive to motivate others by sharing skills they need to safely seek a healthy weight.

    At last: A diet guru who tells the truth! Ditch all those diet books that promise great abs with no exercise or promise that weight will just `fall off.’ Brandon Ruse tells his personal story of losing weight without a gym membership, those little pre-packaged foods or starvation tricks.

    He tells it like it is: We didn’t put on the pounds in a day and they won’t come off overnight. He outlines what is necessary to be successful and how to add each component (as a wildly experienced dieter, I know he’s right).

    The most clever idea he offers, I thought, was starting a blog and telling about one’s successes and problems. There’s something to be said for writing and letting others see what and how you are doing. It helps maintain motivation because there’s nothing more exciting than another person responding to your blog with comments or questions.

    Lest you think starting a blog is hard, I ran one for 3 years. Go to WordPress; follow the quick tips and start. If you are not committed to writing at least 3 times/week, this isn’t a good motivation tool. You will just feel guilty about not writing enough.

    If you only read one book about losing weight this year, this should be it. The author is both clear and motivating. Bravo, Brandon! Thank you!
